Career Shadowing Fire Spoken by the Buffalo

Purpose: to entertain listeners with good music

Expansion Plans: They want to grow their fan base and eventually get signed. This February they're planning on moving to Tennessee to see if they can get a record deal.

Employability Skills: The only two skills they use are be prepared (as far as equipment and stage presence) and be on time.

Average Salary and Education: To be a musician there isn't really a specific education requirement, only your knowledge of music is needed. Most of the guys I met had graduated or at least had their G.E.D. but none had any plans for college any time soon. They make an average of $20,000 to $30,000 annually playing gigs around central Florida, because they are currently unsigned.

Technology: They use Adobe Photoshop to make posters for their upcoming shows, Garageband to edit songs for their EP, and a sound system every time they play a show.

Job Related and Social Skills Needed: You need to be able to get things done in a timely manner and stay organized (for scheduling). Also, you need to be able to communicate effectively because people will not support you if they don't feel like they can relate to you.

Like Best: I liked that you can pretty much make your own schedule and you're always doing music, which is something I really enjoy.

Dislike: There is not anything that I really dislike about this job. They all work well together, but the only annoying thing is trying to make sure you're following all the correct music laws and such, which is worth it if you truly love what you do.

Pursuing: I would love the pursue a job with Fire Spoken by the Buffalo. I got along well with everyone involved in the band and I want to be a band manager, which is something they are lacking. The guys are laid back but also are passionate about what they do, which is what it should be like.
